Today at UW-Madison, David Gagnon shared the state of the field and production here at UW-Madison. Working under Kurt Squire and having connections to the DoIT/Engage designers the idea is to set up a clearinghouse for mobile production using the ARIS engine which is very close to release.
He also did some amazing demo's of the engine. Though the affordances of the mobile experiences looks similar to much that is already out there - but the kicker is the accessibility of production to non-technical designers. The ability to produce full game applications that utilize the mobility, engagement, place-based attributes of mobile can open a can of worms for production.
